Privacy notice

What happens to the details you give us when you ask for a callback, ring or email. The short version: we use them to sort out your car, and nothing else.

Who we are

Smartex Automotive is the trading name of Galin, a self-employed mobile mechanic. Galin is responsible for your information. You can reach us on 07570 007996 or at smartexautomotive@hotmail.com about anything on this page.

What we collect

When you request a callback on this website, we receive:

  • your name and phone number
  • your vehicle registration
  • anything you tell us about the problem

When you type a registration, we look it up in the DVSA's MOT history service to show the make and model and the MOT expiry date. The last recorded mileage from that record is added to your enquiry so we can prepare for the job.

If you call, text or email us instead, we keep what you tell us in the same way.

How we use it

We use your details to call you back, give you a quote, arrange a visit and do the work. If you become a customer, we also keep a record of the work for warranty and accounting purposes.

We never use your details for marketing, and we never sell or share them with anyone for their own use.

Our legal basis is that you've asked us to help with your car, so we need your details to respond and to carry out the work you book. Keeping job and payment records is also a legal requirement for any business.

Who else sees it

A few services handle your information on our behalf. They use it only to provide their service to us:

  • FormSubmit delivers your callback request to our email inbox.
  • Our website host (Hostinger, on servers in the UK) runs this site. Like every web server, it briefly logs technical details such as your IP address to keep the site secure.
  • The DVSA receives the registration you enter, so it can return the vehicle's MOT record.

FormSubmit may store or process your information outside the UK.

How long we keep it

If you don't go ahead with a booking, we delete your enquiry within 12 months. If we do work on your car, we keep the job record for six years, as required for business and tax records, and then delete it.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it or delete it. You can also ask us to stop using it. Just call or email us. We'll respond within one month.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. We'd appreciate the chance to put it right first.
